Targeting Marketing Recipients

In this article, you’ll learn how to target a group of clients for campaigns and announcements, manage clients’ consent to receive promotional material, as well as how to comply with anti-spam regulations.

Creating a recipient list using tags

Grouping clients in a recipient list is easy.

Step 1: Go to the Clients menu on your dashboard

Step 2: From the list on the right hand side, select the filters you would like to use to separate out the clients you need for your recipient list.

Step 3: Click on Select > All or select individual clients from your search.

Step 4: Click on the Add Tags button above to add the same tags to each selected client and give a name to your tag and click Add tags.

Now that you have your clients tagged appropriately, you can select campaign and announcement recipients by tag when selecting campaign and announcement recipients.

Note: You can also use client Status as a filter for selecting campaign recipients.
Note: For Automated Campaigns, you also have the option of selecting All Matching Clients in your Recipient Settings. This selection is based on your Clients Status Automation Settings.
You can read more about filtering clients, creating tags and client status to improve your targeting efforts.

Manage client consent: opt-in for campaigns

It’s recommended you send campaigns only to clients who have given their consent to receive marketing messages from in compliance with data protection regulations (aka GDPR).

Customers who have given consent are also more likely to react positively to campaigns.

Our system makes collecting consent easy. Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Go to Settings > Client Card

Step 2: Add the Opt-in for campaigns field

Client_Card_2019-12-11_16-40-01_1_.pngThis will add an opt-in checkbox to the Client Card (which applies to all clients).

Once you have added the field, you can decide for each client whether or not to only send campaigns to clients who have given consent (opted-in).

This information can be checked by you, the business, based on your knowledge of the client, or clients can fill it out themselves if you add the field to your online intake forms.

Note: If you do not select “Allow campaigns only to opted-in clients”, you will still be warned that the message may go out to non opt-in clients before sending it.

Anti-spam requirements

By sending campaigns from our system you are accepting our terms of service. It is your responsibility to ensure that your email & SMS campaign material comply with the US CAN-SPAM Act and the laws of the countries your recipients live in.

In addition, text (SMS) campaigns or announcements must comply with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991.

Our system has built-in spam detection mechanisms and if suspicious activity is detected on your account, the account will be locked without notice. This includes any suspicious activity around client lists, the uploading of external lists, email bounce rate, misleading or illegal content or graphics, spam abuse activity, violation of copyrights and so on.
